The Manager Human Resources serves in a support role in our maritime business, responsible for overseeing Spa Managers on board to ensure consistent compliance of all company policy and procedures to include the Maritime Labor Convention 2006 (“MLC”), local port and Flag State regulations. The role requires a forward-thinking mindset, excellent organisational skills, high emotional intelligence, and the ability to remain impartial and calm. The position requires collaborative support across the OneSpaWorld organization, and our Cruise Line partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • MLC Compliance- Ensure Spa Managers complete all necessary documentation to comply with MLC, port and Flag State regulations.
  • Staff Support- Coach and mentor Spa Managers and Spa staff on how to create a healthy, productive work environment.
  • Onboarding- Manage the process for new staff joining ships to achieve a seamless integration into the team. Document and provide feedback to spa managers on how they have conducted the process identifying areas for improvement
  • MLC Certification- Maintain correct documents and records to ensure yearly Lloyds certification is obtained by the company as per flag state requirement.
  • Manning- Manage Spa Managers completion of company extension letters and Shipboard Employment Agreements for onboard staff. 
  • Maintain company records- File all employee documents as per MLC and internal HR requirements.
  • Staff Compensation- Manage communication relating to complaints and concerns from onboard staff by communicating with Brightwell to ensure all issues are resolved.
  • Management Training- Conduct training for Spa Managers on the topics of onboarding, appraisals, behavioral counseling, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Staff Moves- Oversee all staff movement, in conjunction with the Director Human Resources, to ensure compliance with company policy.
  • Innovation- Collaborate across multiple departments as technology becomes available to automate many of the data entry and administrative functions that exist. Provide feedback on how to create better efficiency in Human Resources by identifying opportunities.

Qualifications
  • Ability to manage, and use proprietary organizational software
  • Spa, Wellness, Fitness, Cruise, Travel, or Hospitality industry experience preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related topic preferred
  • Proven experience in working with a global team
  • Proven experience in providing verbal and written communications from executives to front-line staff
  • Complete professional reports and communication to Spa Managers and Spa staff, follow up with Director of Human Resources, Maritime as, and when, required.

Knowledge and Skills
 
  • Prior shipboard management experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of MLC.
  • Effective time management and utilization of company resources.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication and organizational skills.   
  • Management of Spa Managers and Spa teams in relation to Company and MLC policy and procedure.
  • Effective communication and management skills.
  • MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint to intermediate or advanced level preferred
