Position Overview

The Massage Lead (AM) is a licensed, experienced massage therapist who provides exceptional hands-on services while supporting the Spa Director in the day-to-day leadership of the Massage Department. This role is equal parts technical expert and operational leader — responsible for service excellence, revenue support, team development, and smooth spa operations during the AM shift.


Primary Responsibilities

  1. Service Excellence — Deliver outstanding massage and body treatments to guests, consistently exceeding service standards and maintaining a guest-first approach at all points of contact.
  2. Revenue Support — Assist the Spa Director in driving and enhancing department revenue through upselling, retail recommendations, and maximizing appointment utilization.
  3. Operations Management — Ensure a consistent, smooth flow of daily spa operations including managing opening and closing duties and delegating tasks to staff in accordance with company and operational standards.
  4. Retail, Inventory & Training — Oversee retail floor presentation, support inventory management, and lead product knowledge training for the massage team.
  5. Team Leadership — Recruit, train, schedule, and staff the massage team. Set clear performance expectations and model a team player attitude, professionalism, and flexibility.
  6. Scheduling & Staffing — Manage staff scheduling to meet business needs while maintaining appropriate coverage and service flow.

Qualifications

  • Valid Massage Therapy license required
  • Minimum 2 years of professional massage therapy experience
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in body treatments, scrubs, and a range of massage techniques and modalities, including training in spa-specific treatments
  • Demonstrated customer service orientation with strong interpersonal skills
  • Prior supervisory or lead experience in a high-volume, customer service-focused environment preferred
  • Satisfactory attendance and job performance history
  • Experience with Point of Sale systems; Book4Time knowledge highly desirable
  • Comfortable answering phones and managing guest inquiries in a professional manner
  • Computer literate with proficient typing skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook mail and calendar, Word, Excel)
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Spa or salon experience a plus
