Position Overview
The Lead Nail Technician is a licensed, experienced nail professional who delivers exceptional nail and hand/foot care services while providing day-to-day leadership and support to the nail services team. This role combines technical mastery with operational and supervisory accountability, ensuring guest satisfaction, team performance, and service standards consistently reflect the Mandara Spa experience.
Primary Responsibilities
- Service Excellence — Provide outstanding manicure, pedicure, nail enhancement, and nail art services to guests, maintaining the highest standard of technique, sanitation, and guest interaction at all times.
- Revenue Support — Assist the Spa Director in driving nail department revenue through upselling, retail product recommendations, and maximizing appointment utilization.
- Operations Management — Support the consistent, smooth flow of daily nail services operations, including managing opening and closing duties and delegating tasks to staff in accordance with company and operational standards.
- Retail, Inventory & Training — Oversee retail presentation and product knowledge within the nail department, support inventory management, and lead training on spa-specific nail treatments and product lines.
- Team Leadership — Coach, mentor, and motivate nail technicians to deliver consistent, high-quality service. Model professionalism, flexibility, and a team-first attitude.
- Scheduling & Staffing — Assist with recruitment, training, scheduling, and staffing to ensure appropriate coverage and an exceptional guest experience.
Qualifications
- Valid Cosmetology or Nail Technician license required
- Minimum 2 years of professional nail services experience in a spa, salon, or hospitality environment
- Proficiency in a full range of nail services including manicures, pedicures, nail enhancements, gel, and nail art
- Strong guest service orientation with a friendly, professional demeanor
- Prior supervisory or lead experience in a high-volume, customer service-focused environment preferred
- Satisfactory attendance and job performance history
- Experience with Point of Sale systems; Book4Time knowledge highly desirable
- Comfortable answering phones and managing guest inquiries in a professional manner
- Computer literate with proficient typing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook mail and calendar, Word, Excel)
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Spa or salon experience a plus
